The Clogher Valley is nature’s country. A lush, pastoral landscape that offers its gifts to our master cheesemakers with all its heart and soul. For over a hundred years, we have been producing award winning dairy products. We believe cheesemaking is an art form that relies on two things: the quality and purity of the ingredients, and the skill and passion of the artisan.
Leslie has been milking cows for as long as he can remember and his family have always supplied their milk to Fivemiletown Creamery. He left school at 14 to come home to farm as he was spending more time out of school than in so it just seemed logical to farm full time.
He bought his first cow straight away for £164, which was a lot of money in the 1970’s, but one of her bull calves went on to win the Bull Show at Balmoral and was sold for £3000, Leslie had caught the ‘cow bug’.
The farm has continued to grow and expand and he now has a son at home farming with him. This bug seems to be genetic. Leslie’s passion is to breed long lasting durable cows that give high quality milk – but they have to be pleasing to the eye as well.
Leslie is never happier than when he is standing in the middle of a field of cows and being as the family call him a ‘cow anorak’ thinks the best holiday (if his wife can drag him away from the cows) has to include at least one visit to a dairy farm.
