The Clogher Valley is nature’s country. A lush, pastoral landscape that offers its gifts to our master cheesemakers with all its heart and soul. For over a hundred years, we have been producing award winning dairy products. We believe cheesemaking is an art form that relies on two things: the quality and purity of the ingredients, and the skill and passion of the artisan.
With the Colebrooke River winding its way through his land, William Crawford has tended his championship Holsteins at his Ardmore House Farm since 1966.
As a master breeder, William has won every award in the dairy breed category, except one. But even William admits, it‘s only a matter of time.
"My philosophy for getting great milk is to have the best quality animals, treat them with respect and let them graze the countryside in peace. Like a racing car with no fuel, a good animal will only produce quality milk in the right quantities if she is getting the right nutrition."
William has been breeding cattle all his life and bought his first farm as a teenager.
“My father died when I was 18. I needed a plan. Like him I knew I wanted to farm so I bought this place with what was then called an agricultural loan for young farmers. Things have certainly changed since then but I still love it. You can’t do it right if you don’t.”
